The Nashville Film Festival is a celebration of the art of film and music that challenges and inspires. NashFilm provides unique opportunities to connect the film and music communities by presenting showcases, workshops, and other networking events where songwriters and musicians come together with film professionals from around the world to advance successful collaboration.
Throughout the year, we deliver several programs with competitions in Film, Screenwriting and Virtual Reality/360; the Creators Conference; the Music Program; Outdoor Movie Series; Living Reel at-risk youth program, Creative Workshops and more.
Some of our year-round programs include:
- Film Education Program: Designed with the goal of fostering media literacy and greater cultural understanding in Nashville Public School students grades 8-12; the Nashville Film Festival brings together filmmakers, film fans of all ages, and film educators to engage in meaningful dialogue that explores the art of cinematic storytelling, contemplates how the moving image is a vital means of expression, and considers how films can acknowledge, embrace and support diverse voices, perspectives, and experiences. Our Education Screenings (virtual/in-person) are provided entirely for free to schools, students and educators and includes study guides and curriculum support. We believe that film is a powerful teaching tool and can help students to think critically, become active participants in discussions that relate back to identity, community and cross-cultural understanding.
- Outdoor Movies – Movies in the Park: NashFilm produces and presents several outdoor screenings throughout the year by bringing diverse members of the Nashville community together to share in the enjoyment of some of the world’s most popular fan-favorite films. A highlight of every summer for the last 28 years, the Movies in the Park series is held in Elmington Park in partnership with the Nashville Scene and is free to the public.
- Living Reel: An annual community initiative that pairs at-risk youth with entertainment professionals to create an original song and music video. During the Living Reel program, NashFilm partners with filmmakers and musicians to help the teens learn to work together as a team, while expressing their thoughts and experiences through the art of music and film.
