I think the film to catch this year is the Heartworn Highways Revisited documentary. I’m all about it. I loved the original 1976 film. And, I like all of the people featured in this new version. Nikki Lane, Andrew Combs, Justin Townes Earle – they’re all making great music, carving out their own style, ready to break out of the pack. This will be our first film festival. We’re looking forward to it.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the seminal music documentary, Heartworn Highways, a film that captured the nascent roots of the Outlaw Country movement in the mid-70s. Heartworn Highways Revisited explores and celebrates the authenticity and spirit of that legendary film via a community of contemporary musicians in Nashville. Filmmakers reunite with Heartworn originals while focusing on the next generation of “outlaws” and others who honor the tradition of their predecessors while forging a highway all their own.  Cast includes Steve Young, Guy Clark and David Allan Coe.
