So you want to know a little bit more. Well, first off, a little about NashFilm
Tell me more about the mission!
“NashFilm amplifies our collective and individual awareness by bringing the world to Nashville to celebrate innovation, music and the many voices of the human spirit through the art of film.”
Alright, give me 30 secs on who you are.
Founded in 1969 by Mary Jane Coleman, NashFilm was originally known as the Sinking Creek Film Celebration. Nearly 20 years later it was renamed the Nashville Independent Film Festival and, later, the Nashville Film Festival in 2003. It was voted one of “25 film festivals worth the entry fee” by MovieMaker Magazine and highlighted as One of the Best Film Festival Prizes by Film Festival Today. Brooks Institute named it one of the top 5 film festivals in the U.S.
The annual festival has grown to now showing movies for 10 days in 10 theaters. The +300 films shown are from about 25 countries around the globe as well as an entire track of films that are made in our home state of Tennessee!
Yep, our 50th anniversary is in 2019!
Where do the films come from?
We invite a small percentage of films, but the vast majority are curated from our film competitions (+6,000 entries). If you have a work you would like to submit, here is where you can:
We also offer coverage services, to help screenwriters make their script the best it can be!
Ok, tell me more about how I can get in on this.
The best way experience the festival is as a member. The Gold & Silver levels come with a laminate, meaning you get free or heavily discounted tickets, and can relax in the VIP tent daily and enjoy complimentary tickets to the opening and closing night parties (while supplies last).
If you like to get involved by doing, we welcome you as a volunteer.
Lastly, donations are always welcome. 🙂 We are a 501(c)3 Not-For-Profit, and rely on your support to continue helping creatives get to the next level, and provide exceptional, international and diverse content to our audience.
What can I do the rest of the year?
Throughout the year, we’ll offer free tickets to go to advance screenings of films to our members. A few of the films we’ve offered in the past include: All the Money in the World, 12 Strong, The Commuter, & Wonder Wheel.
In partnership with the Nashville Scene, we show movies on Thursdays every June at sundown. This is a family-friendly event that is FREE to attend. Come early to enjoy the food trucks and vendors.
Every summer, the Nashville Film Festival is hosting workshops by bringing inspiring filmmakers, screenwriters, VR & 360 film creators and more to Nashville to show you ways to better your craft.
Here is a place to connect with peers, a place to discover the latest industry trends, and a place to refine your skills and abilities. This annual event, which coincides with the Nashville Film Festival, combines the professional development of a conference with the kinetic energy of a festival. In this unique environment, you can discover what types of projects film buyers are currently looking for and hear insights from top Hollywood producers and industry executives.
