Tell me more about the NashFilm mission!
“NashFilm brings the world to Nashville to celebrate innovation, music and the many voices of the human spirit through the art of film.”
Founded in 1969 by Mary Jane Coleman, NashFilm was originally known as the Sinking Creek Film Celebration. Nearly 20 years later it was renamed the Nashville Independent Film Festival and, later, the Nashville Film Festival in 2003. It was voted one of “25 film festivals worth the entry fee” by MovieMaker Magazine and highlighted as One of the Best Film Festival Prizes by Film Festival Today.
The annual festival has grown to now showing movies for 10 days in 10 theaters. The +300 films shown are from about 25 countries around the globe as well as an entire track of films that are made in our home state of Tennessee!
Yes, our 50th anniversary is in 2019!
Where do the films come from?
The vast majority of our films are curated from our film competitions (+6,000 entries). If you have a work you would like to submit, here is where you can:
We also offer coverage services, to help screenwriters make their script the best it can be!
Ok, how else can I get involved?
The best way experience the festival is as a member.
If you like to get involved by doing, we welcome you as a volunteer.
Lastly, donations are always welcome. We are a 501(c)3 Not-For-Profit, and rely on your support to continue helping creatives get to the next level, and to provide exceptional, international and diverse content to Nashville.
What can I do the rest of the year?
Throughout the year, we’ll offer exclusive free tickets to attend advance screenings of films to our members.
In partnership with the Nashville Scene, we show movies on Thursdays every June at sundown. This is a family-friendly event that is FREE to attend.
Every year, the Nashville Film Festival hosts workshops to help inspiring filmmakers, screenwriters, VR & 360 film creators learn and improve your craft.
The Creator’s Conference is a place to connect with peers, discover the latest industry trends, and to refine your skills and abilities. This annual event, which coincides with the Nashville Film Festival, combines the professional development of a conference with the kinetic energy of a festival. In this unique environment, you can discover what types of projects film buyers are currently looking for and hear insights from top Hollywood producers and industry executives.
