Nashville Film Festival Livin’ Reel Program – now 14 years old – gives teens a hands-on experience in filmmaking. With support from Nissan, our presenting sponsor, plus Southwest Airlines, Metro Arts, the Tennessee Arts Commission and the Memorial Foundation, the program has been able to operate since 2004.
Led by Communications Manager, Mackenzie Robert, a small group of teens dedicate after-school hours studying film and using their own experience to write a screenplay or music video. With help from musicians and songwriters, they compose an original song which they later record in a professional studio. By the end of their production weekend, they have a finished song and short film or music video, ready to take on the road to the Sharon Kay show on WFSK Radio and various TV interviews.
