Greg Olliver

I've always had a passion for telling stories, and never wanted to do anything but make films. I'm especially proud to have the opportunity to tell a true story like Johnny Winter's since he is such a real-life character, and an important part of the history of blues. His is a story that needed to be told, and I had a blast working with him on this film.

Born on the high plains of Texas and raised on the mean streets of New York City, Greg Olliver’s first film was the highly acclaimed “LEMMY”, a portrait of Motörhead’s frontman Lemmy Kilmister, which was released world wide in 2010.  It is still currently in rotation on VH1 and has been certified gold for sales in 4 countries.

“Turned Towards the Sun”, Greg’s 2nd feature documentary, was nominated for the Grierson/Best Documentary Award at the British Film Institute’s London Film Festival in 2012.  His narrative feature “DEVOURED”, an award-winning psychological thriller set in New York City, is set for release in the U.S. later this year.  Greg has also directed and produced promos and music videos for clients that include the NY Rangers, Valient Thorr, GHOST, Motorhead, Joan Jett and others.

“JOHNNY WINTER: DOWN & DIRTY marks Greg’s return to the rock-doc genre.
